Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha City
Your international flight will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, near to the ‘The Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro. After clearing immigration and collecting your luggage, you’ll be met by your driver who will be waiting for you at arrivals.
You will drive to your accommodation in Arusha, and on a clear day you may have views of Kilimanjaro en route. After a long day travelling you may want to rest, but if you want to keep yourself busy until the evening, we can arrange a city tour or other experiences dependent on your interests.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Today, you’ll set out to explore your first Tanzanian national park: the stunning Tarangire. This park is often a favorite among guides due to its size and remoteness, particularly in the southern region. It’s especially famous for the large herds of elephants that gather here.
In addition to elephants, you’ll also find significant populations of wildebeest, zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, and buffalo. The park is home to some unique and less common species as well, such as the gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx. The primary landscape features dry, open woodlands dotted with hundreds of the iconic baobab trees, often referred to as Africa’s ‘Trees of Life.’
You’ll explore the park in your private vehicle, enjoying a picnic lunch during your game drive before heading to your camp for the evening.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
In the early morning, you will drive from Karatu to Ngorongoro. Upon your arrival, you’ll begin your descent into the crater, which is the area’s defining feature. This collapsed volcano creates a unique ecosystem filled with diverse vegetation and stunning landscapes.
The crater boasts the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and the rare black rhino. It’s one of the best places to witness all of the Big Five. The views from the crater rim overlooking the floor below are breathtaking, making Ngorongoro Crater one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders.
While in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you can engage in various activities, including visiting a Maasai village. You’ll have up to six hours to explore the crater before returning to your reserved accommodation.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
Your journey from Ngorongoro to the Serengeti will take you through lush green hills and expansive flat lowlands. As you drive, the landscape stretches endlessly to the horizon, broken only by small dusty towns and traditional round Maasai huts. Once you enter the Serengeti, you’ll embark on a game drive towards your camp.
The southern part of the park features flat and gently rolling grasslands, occasionally interrupted by rocky kopjes that provide excellent vantage points for big cats. This area is also home to large herds of wildebeest, especially during their birthing season when they gather here before migrating north. The Serengeti boasts a variety of landscapes, so the scenery you encounter will depend on your location within the park.
Day 5: Full Day Serengeti National Park
Today, you’ll continue your African safari adventure at one of the country’s top destinations: Serengeti National Park. Known for its vast plains and rich wildlife, the Serengeti is truly a sight to behold. The highlight of this park is the Wildebeest Migration, where over a million wildebeest, along with zebras and gazelles, spectacularly dash across the open landscapes.
Accompanied by your private guide, you’ll search for these magnificent herds roaming the plains. In addition to the migratory animals, you can expect to encounter a variety of other wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and more. Prepare to be awed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park.
For a unique vantage point to observe wildlife, consider taking a balloon safari. It offers an unforgettable experience as you gently float above the plains, watching herds of animals from the sky.
Day 6: From Serengeti to Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast in the wild and sadly the last game drive, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
