On this day you will have a Walking Safaris, Walk with Giants. Tarangire offers amazing walking experiences with its abundance of wildlife in the dry season. Best time to walk in the park is June – October and sometimes into November if the early rains are late. After the rains the grass gets too long to safely walk in the park. Tarangire offers one of the highest densities of elephant in East Africa so you has a great chance to see elephant on foot. The mammal and bird diversity is very high – one can see more than 15 mammal species and 80 bird species in one day! The habitats where we walk in Tarangire range from Acacia woodlands to mosaics of baobab trees as far as you can see.
We operate walks in four wilderness zones in Tarangire National park meaning that you are camped off busy roads in an area that you will have just for your group. All of our walking areas are located close to water holes or spring systems which offer great wildlife viewing when stalking or hiding downwind of wildlife coming into drink.
Today will be an easy full day walk. You cover approximately 7km on flat ground. You depart from camp early following game trails past various water holes. The aim of being on foot is to be quiet and feel connected with the bush without the physical obstruction a vehicle brings. We will be quiet as we wander through the bush and will focus on smaller things such as birds, insects, plants and tracks. Saying this, there is always a chance that we will encounter larger mammals and for this reason you will be guided by an extremely well trained and armed guide.
You arrive the camp for a late lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in and around camp, and later at Night you will go for a Night Game Drive
A new world of nocturnal animal species awaits you on an exclusive night game drive excursion within the Tarangire National Park, as this area is considered an ideal location for this activity. Lake Manyara ecosystem close by, Tarangire National Park is a melting pot for all types of animals. Tarangire River is richly in the reliable waters year round and animals here are in prime conditions making wildlife viewing even better. The lesser seen animals are generally seen.
Dinner will not be provided during night game drives and so guests are required to have an early dinner at a lodge/hotel or Tented Camp/Public Campsite. Night game drive will begin around 19:30 and you will meet your guide at the gate of your selected accommodation and you will have a short briefing on what to do and not do during the night game drive.
